Very satisfied with the quality of the product. I did as others suggested and used safety pins to fasten the excess strap to prevent wind noise. The entire trip was dry so cannot comment on it's weatherproof capabilities. My only problem with the product is that the plastic buckles did not fit under the side rails of my 2002 Chrysler mini van. Had to route them through an opening on the crossbars. But it still held the carrier in place. Without this product my kids would have had to hold stuff on their laps for a 3+ hour trip. I was disappointed with the FEDEX smart mail, it took an extra 5 days longer than the estimated delivery time, fortunately I ordered the product far enough in advance that I had it when I needed it.
Bought this item for a trip to Disneyland. The car was loaded with kids and no room for luggage. Item fit very well to roof rack and is made of very sturdy material. Very generous capacity. Expecially liked the soft material on the bottom that protected my rooftop. Didn't encounter rain on our trip so can't vouch if it's waterproof. For the price, I highly recommend this durable carrier.
